Sunday morning classes are 9:45 a.m. every Sunday. We have many different classes that offer ways to grow in your spiritual life. Here are some examples of ongoing classes:

Covenant: Seminar style, with a different topic each month (Congregation House, Room B).  

Jubilee: A discussion class, which explores issues of ethics, peace and justice (Room 116). The class is now on summer break, though other Sunday school opportunities are available (see summer schedule section below).
        

Maloney: A traditional Bible study. (parlor)


Women’s: A time for devotions and sharing (room 205)

Pines: A Bible study taught by the leaders of the Men’s Class (Living Room at the Pines)     

Faith and Family: A class designed by families which combines topics of faith and family needs. (room 201)
Various topics. Through June 6, the class is reading Blessings of a Skinned Knee, a book on parenting children through the smaller difficulties of life. Nancy Barkemayer is leading this discussion.

Summer Schedule: Over the summer DCPC has a more relaxed but quality line up for Christian Education. All adults are invited to join the Maloney Class in the Parlor for a Bible study. The Pines Class meets in the Marshall Room on the first floor each Sunday for Bible study, all are welcome.

Special series: June 13, 6-7:30 p.m. Join Dr. Jonathan Berkey and others to discuss the upcoming General Assembly study paper on the Middle East. This panel discussion is open to other churches and the community. Dr. Berkey is professor of history at Davidson College and specializes in Middle East studies. Other topics from General Assembly may be discussed on Sunday mornings in June.

June 20-26, Montreat Worship and Music Conference

August 14, 9-noon, join Dr. James ‘Mickey’ Efird in the Congregation House on the Book of Revelation. This seminar is open to the entire congregation and community. Dr. Efird is professor emeritus at Duke Divinity School, a Davidson graduate, and PC (USA) minister. He specializes in Biblical studies and is a sought-after seminar leader.

Mid-week and small group opportunities are offered at different times throughout the week and at different times of the year. Some groups are on-going, while others meet for a set period of time.

Disciple Bible Studies: Disciple I group, Becoming Disciples through Bible study. Participants read through 70% of the Bible in 34 weeks. Meets Tuesday evenings at 7 pm. The topic for the group will be Jesus in the Gospels. Contact Linda Steber to register.
 
Brindisi Men’s Bible Study: This small group Bible study meets Tuesday mornings at 8:00 a.m. in the parlor.

Beloved Community Book Group: This book group with our sister church, Davidson Presbyterian Church, meets on the fourth Wednesday of each month at 6:45 p.m.

Women's Book Club:  Meets on Monday nights, once a month, at member's houses.

Room at the Table:  Meets Wednesday evenings at 5:45 p.m for food, fellowship and worship.

Shalom Bible Study:  Women's Bible study meeting Monday mornings at 9:30 in room 206. Childcare is provided. The current topic is The Beatitudes for Today, by James Howell.

Gathering Around the Word: This program provides an opportunity to discuss the lectionary scriptures with Rev. McGregor Simmons both before and after they are used in sermons. Meets Thursdays at 6:30 in the Parlor.  
 

Church Retreats  take place on different occasions throughout the year. This year's remaining retreat is:

-Women's Retreat 2010: This year's retreat will be Sept. 24, 25 and 26 in Montreat.
