Nicaragua Partnership

The partnership between DCPC and the seven communities in the Kilambe region of Nicaragua was formed in 2007.  The partnership was facilitated by CEPAD, the Council of Evangelical Churches in Nicaragua, with the community organization called ASDECK, which included the seven communities of Kilambe.  Although the organization had far reaching interests—in marketing their coffee, in preserving their land, we have kept a focus on education in our partnership.  We have funded scholarships, at the outset only for elementary age students, which included school uniforms and supplies, and some food for the families.  As those children have grown we have added secondary school students and university students to our scholarship list.  We travel to the communities each June with an intergenerational group, and while our primary focus has been building  relationships, we have worked with the community members to assist in projects identified by them, such as school construction, delivery of school supplies and maps, lessons in music and art, and planting a garden.    For further information, please contact Rosemary Klein at
