Childcare at Davidson College Presbyterian
Here's what you need to know if you are bringing your young child to DCPC.
Nursery staff:
Helga McIntosh is our supervisor. Lupita Carrasco, Jill Coughlin and Perveen Ashan are our other paid staff. They are wearing special name tags. The other workers are church volunteers. All staff, paid and volunteer, have been screened.
Sign in/out:
Inside all of the rooms is a white board or notebook. Please make sure that you sign your child in and out, and note your location in the building.
Other safety issues:
Please make sure you always close and latch the doors behind you when you enter and leave the rooms. We always have at least 2 volunteers in the room with children. Children are not allowed to leave without an authorized adult. A copy of our protection policy is available if you click here.
Snacks:
Snacks are frequently given during childcare. All snacks are nut-free. If you have other concerns, please talk to one of our paid staff.
Times:
On Sundays, childcare begins at 8:35 a.m. in our downstairs nurseries. This is a combined age of Kindergarten and younger for our early worship.
The Sunday school hour for all ages is 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., and the second worship service is at 11:00 a.m.
Ages:
We normally offer childcare for children in Kindergarten and younger. We ask that you do not move your child up on a birthday. We move the class together at the end of August each year.
Personal items:
We ask that children have necessary diapering needs and a bottle or sippy cup if needed. All personal items should be labeled.
Illness:
Please do not bring your child if he/she has had a fever, vomiting, or diarrhea in the last 24 hours. Do not bring your child if he/she has red and oozing eyes or a thick, runny nose. If you child has started antibiotics for an illness, make sure that they have been on the medication at least 24 hours before bringing. Hand sanitizer is available in all classes.
What if my child is upset?
We make every effort to calm your child with love and care. If he/she is still upset we will find you. Please make sure you note your location in the building.
