Charlotte’s The Choir School at St. Peter’s Episcopal

Ms. Elizabeth Lenti, Artistic Director, and Mr. Garret Law, Assistant Director, will offer a varied program of organ music, and the MasterSingers will sing both sacred and secular music, including works by John Rutter, Josef Rheinberger, Henry Balfour Gardiner and Keith Hampton.

Organ at Davidson presents an ongoing series of concerts featuring outstanding organists, as well as collaborations with instrumentalists and choral groups. The concert will be in the Davidson College Presbyterian Sanctuary.  Admission is free, with donations welcome to support the series. In addition, the audience is invited to make donations this month to the Choir School to support their tour to England.

The mission of The Choir School to enrich and strengthen young lives through excellent, rigorous music education and choral performance. Every four years high school students, The MasterSingers, travel to England to perform and to experience first-hand the roots of the Anglican choral tradition. In July 2019, The MasterSingers will serve in residence at Durham Cathedral.

The Choir School of St. Peter’s

TRJ_8276A_Crop002Currently in its 26th season, The Choir School at St. Peter’s is an auditioned community choir offering music education and performance opportunities to talented young men and women from every background and every corner of the Charlotte region. Originally conceived as a boys choir in the classic European tradition, the school has grown to include five distinct choirs whose members range in age from seven to eighteen.

Under the direction of Choir School Artistic Director Elizabeth Lenti, The Choir School experience often provides the foundation of undergraduate and graduate studies in performance, conducting and music education. The distinguished alumni include singers, organists, composers, choirmasters, music therapists, performers and educators, as well as business and nonprofit professionals, civic leaders and scholars.

Elizabeth Lenti, Artistic Director

Elizabeth Lenti is Artistic Director of The Choir School. A native of Rochester, NY, Ms. Lenti is a lentigraduate of the Eastman School of Music and the Cleveland Institute of Music. Before joining the staff of The Choir School as Assistant Director in 2014, she was Associate Director of Music and Worship at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral in Cleveland, OH. Ms. Lenti has also served as a member of the organ faculty at the Cleveland Institute of Music. She is active as a recitalist, having performed on concert series throughout the United States, and has played at regional and national conventions of the American Guild of Organists and the Association of Anglican Musicians.?

Garrett Law, Assistant Director

Garrett Law is Assistant Director of The Choir School. A native of Toledo, Ohio, Mr. Law holds lawdegrees in Music Theory and Organ Performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music. He earned the graduate diploma in Historical Performance Practice from Case Western Reserve University, and is a graduate of the Interlochen Arts Academy. He previously served as Organist-Choirmaster at St. James’ Anglican Catholic Church in Cleveland, and as Assistant Organist-Choirmaster at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Akron, where he helped lead chorister training and music theory ribbon training.
