The Umbrella
The Lake Norman area has “A safe, brave and creative space for LGBTQIA+ youth 13 – 18.” In the month of June alone they have had almost 50 youth stop by for social activities, a quiet space, an artistic space and even for some counseling. The Umbrella also hosts a regular meeting of PFLAG, a group for parents and caregivers of LGBTQ+ individuals. If you would like to know more, contact Robert Alexander in the office or Cambria Nielsen, chair of our Mental Health Matters committee.
