Life Events
Baptism

Baptism is one of two sacraments of the Presbyterian Church (USA). Baptism functions as a sign and symbol of inclusion in God’s grace and covenant with the church. Both believers and their children are included in God’s covenant love. Baptism signifies the beginning of life in Christ, not its completion.

The Lord's Supper
Lord’s Supper is a celebration of thanksgiving and remembrance for the self-offering of Jesus Christ. Christ’s perfect sacrifice of love and service is not re-enacted or reactualized at the Lord’s Supper; rather, in the joyful feast of eucharistic celebration, we offer our praise and thanksgiving to God for this amazing gift. The opportunity to eat and drink with Christ is not a right bestowed upon the worthy, but a privilege given to the undeserving who come in faith, repentance, and love. All who come to the table are offered the bread and cup, regardless of their age or understanding. Anyone is welcome to participate in the sacrament of the Lord’s Supper. You don’t have to be Presbyterian, a member of our church, or even a baptized Christian.
Weddings

The following groups have permission to celebrate their Christian Marriage at DCPC: One member of the couple or a parent of either must be an active member of DCPC for at least one year prior to booking a wedding date, Davidson College staff, students, and alumni of Davidson College.

Funerals/Memorials

The resurrection is a central doctrine of the Christian faith and shapes Christians’ attitudes and responses to death. Christians do not bear bereavement in isolation but are sustained by the power of the spirit of the community of faith. The Church offers a ministry of love and hope to all who grieve.

Columbarium

DCPC’s Columbarium is a peaceful, contemplative resting place for members of the DCPC family. The Columbarium was completed in 2006. Memorial services can be arranged in the church’s Sanctuary or Lingle Chapel, both of which adjoin the Columbarium.
